First weekend! Primer Fin de Semana

That plane flight was killer. I managed to sleep through most of it though and finally arrived in New Zealand. We got in right at lunch time and found out that the chef that will be serving us for the next six weeks is INDIAN! So exciting, I love Indian food. He has wonderful vegetarian options too! After lunch Jean and I decided to go out. The sun was scorching but it was only around 70 degrees F outside, that damaged ozone layer can really kill you. We just ended up walking the entire city of Wellington, at least it felt like that, looking at the different shops and things. It was really awesome! It was getting close to dinner time so we walked back up the steepest hill I have ever been on. Jean and I rested and ended up walking around an extremely old cemetery from the 1800s, there was a really nice tree that we took picture with. Finally we made it back after being shown up by a fast walking Kiwi. After dinner the entire group that I am with, around 50 kids, went out to party. We looked like we were going to start a riot. Every bar we went into we completely filled. It was insane. Since we had such a large group of people we received discounts which was awesome. We ended up at a place with 80s music and I made Jean dance with me. We danced so much and Jean got so tired that we had to retire back to the dorm. Jean and I left and walked back, it was a fair distance. Finally I showered and passed out. Today we had orientation about our program and some things about New Zealand, like how a bathing suit is called togs. We saw where our classes would be and then went to have lunch. After lunch most of the group decided to go to the beach!! It was a really long walk but we finally made it. The water was absolutely FREEZING! I was the first one to start swimming and everyone started cheering and a couple people jumped in with me. Jean and I started to swim to a dock that was a ways out into the bay. It was so cold and when we finally made it and stood up on the dock it was super windy making it worse. Caroline an Colin joined us on the dock. There were also a couple of heavier people who were shifting the weight to one side and making the dock rock a lot. Jean and I jumped back in a swam to shore. Then we swam back, it was a lot of work. When we got there a couple of other people from our group showed up and they had cameras, so we took pictures. Then suddenly a super hot Kiwi hopped on and took our group photo. He then leaped into the water and seed off with his huge muscles. Afterwards we went back to the beach and dried off. We then left to some grocery stores to look around. Everything is super expensive! Walking around made me super tired and it was crazy windy by that time, we still had to make the trek back to the dorm! I was so glad when we made it too since I really wanted to take a shower. It felt awesome. I devoured dinner and now I am thinking about going to sleep early since classes start tomorrow.
